Principal's Message

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Hendersonville Elementary School! I hope each of you were able to enjoy and had a great summer. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back and to introduce our new parents and students to Hendersonville Elementary School.  Our Mission at Hendersonville Elementary School, leaders build confidence by leading and learners take responsibility of their own learning.  Our vision is that we promise to build relationships, promote positive culture and climate, live and model the 7 Habits, and celebrate the whole person. We are learning today to lead tomorrow! It is with your assistance that we will be able to accomplish this task.

Hendersonville Elementary is on its second year as a Leader In Me school. The Leader in Me program was adapted from bestselling book by Stephen Covey “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” The program is a process designed to help teachers develop leadership skills in their students, help students discover their unique strengths, give all students an opportunity to shine—to become leaders. The Leader In Me program helps infuse the language of the 7 Habits into all the curriculum. Your children will be learning the 7 Habits of an effective leader and how to use the habits during school and at home.

Our staff utilizes various teaching techniques to help meet the student’s learning styles in order to best educate them in the foundational skills of math and reading. We use technology to assist in the instruction of our lessons. Smart Board technology, Renaissance Learning tool and Edmentum are just some tools we use to compile data to help prepare lessons that will advance our students academically and to help them think more critically about what they are learning.

Parents play such an integral part in this journey. I ask that each day you take time to discuss the day your children had at school, review homework, and ensure that they get enough sleep so they are prepared for the next school day. Also, I ask that students come to school each day with their minds and thoughts set for learning, so that they can be better prepared for the challenges that will await them at Hendersonville Elementary School.

Let us all work together to ensure a great school year, my door is open, ideas are welcomed and I again look forward to a great school year.

Mr. J. Hollington
Principal, Hendersonville Elementary School
