As we enter into the last month of school before summer break,
we want to remind students that "All Feelings are Welcome,
but All Behaviors are Not."
Please discuss this at home with your students as well.
Thank you for your continued partnership & involvement.
Sincerely,
Ms. Varn, School Counselor

Reminder testing tomorrow!!!
3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade:

Math A: May 5
Math B: May 6

Science: May 7 (4th grade only)

These assessments are an important opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned throughout the school year. While we prepare them each day in the classroom, your support at home makes a meaningful difference.

How You Can Help Your Child Prepare:

Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep each evening
Provide a healthy breakfast each morning
Encourage a positive mindset and remind them to do their best
Practice reading daily and reviewing basic math skills
Make sure your child arrives at school on time each day

We believe in every student’s ability to succeed, and we are proud of the growth they have shown this year. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child during this important time.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.

During the week of May 11 to May 15,
the school counseling program's focus will be
on the following:

"If you sprain your ankle, you probably don’t push through for months while telling yourself it’s not a big deal. You rest. You ice it. You might see a clinician. You might even brag about your physical therapy homework like it’s a second job.

But if your mind feels like it’s on fire — racing thoughts, constant dread, numbness, or exhaustion that sleep won’t fix — people often do the opposite. They minimize it. They hide it. They wait.

That’s stigma in action, and it takes a real, painful toll on people’s health.

Mental health isn’t a luxury or a niche concern. It’s a fundamental pillar of your overall well-being. To live a truly healthy life, we have to care for our mental health with the same urgency, compassion, and openness we give our physical health. As the World Health Organization (WHO) has said for decades, health isn’t just about avoiding illness — it’s about physical, mental, and social well-being all working together.

We love to separate the mind and body as if they live in different ZIP codes. In real life, they share a wall.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) puts it plainly: Mental and physical health are equally important, and each can shape the other."

Participants experience a John Maxwell i-Lead Transformation Table, hear from two organizations that successfully mentor students in SC, and learn about literacy tutoring from two SCDE literacy specialists. The event is designed to empower community members with tools they can use in and out of schools to help guide others in a positive direction (mentoring) and help others learn to read (literacy). Summerville YMCA is starting their 6th Summer offering their Splash Into Safety program for just $1 per lesson. The goal is simple: remove cost as a barrier and ensure more children have access to basic swim skills and water safety education. As you know, access to swim lessons remains limited in Colleton communities, and the need for water safety awareness is especially critical heading into the summer months.

Attached you will find a flyer and social media graphic with information about the program. Their goal is to ensure families are aware and able to register before school lets out for the summer.
