We are excited to invite you to our Annual Title I Meeting & Community Engagement Night on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 PM
This year, our focus is COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT!
We are bringing community resources directly to our families.
Representatives from local organizations will briefly share the services and opportunities they provide, and afterward, parents will have an opportunity to visit their tables, ask questions, gather information, and make connections.
Meet Our Community Partners
Our participating organizations include Jenkins Home Care, Pillars for Hope, Kute Kurvy, SC Works, Colleton County School District, Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, Library/Mobile Library, USC STEM, Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), Department of Public Health, Mary Kay Job Opportunities, Responsible Artistry, SC State 1890 Research & Extension, Adult Education/GED, SC Education Association, and Lowcountry Food Bank.
And this evening is for the whole family! While parents connect with our community partners, children who attend in grades 3-6 will be able to participate in a Dance & Social. Children in grades PreK-2 will be able to get their face painted.

This achievement belongs to our entire school community, and especially to YOU—our families! Thank you for making daily attendance a priority and ensuring that your children are present, prepared, and ready to learn each day.
Why does attendance matter? Every day a child is in school provides another opportunity to:

Build positive habits and responsibility

Congratulations to this week's “Tell Me Something Good” drawing winner Jennifer Tayaban of Hendersonville Elementary School.
Ms. Tayaban shared, "Starting to see my classroom become MY classroom here in HES Honey Bee Land! 🐝 In just a few weeks, routines are settling in, learning is unfolding, and meaningful relationships with my students are growing. 💛 Sometimes, the best moments are the little ones, a child finally understanding a concept, a student choosing to keep trying, or a class following routines independently. Those little moments remind me that the work is worth it. "

We are excited to celebrate Grandparents Day at HES on Tuesday, September 15! 💛 The Grandparents Day Luncheon RSVP Form will be sent home with your child TODAY. Please complete and return the RSVP form to school ASAP so that we can prepare for our guests.
🍽️ Guest Lunch Cost: $5.75 per person
💵 Payment: Cash only — please do not send money with the RSVP form. Payment will be collected on site the day of the luncheon.

Did you know that as many as one in three students in the country misses 10%, or about 18 days, of the school year? This September, join with us to celebrate the Attendance Awareness Campaign. We’re working together to make sure all kids show up and participate every day possible. Being in school supports students’ social, emotional and physical well-being, and provides students with opportunities to learn and reach for their dreams. Let’s show up together and get back into the habit of daily attendance!

Please review the attached Smart Snacks, Healthy Celebrations & School Wellness flyer for approved snack ideas, celebration alternatives, and important guidance. Families interested in classroom celebrations, including Hershey’s Ice Cream Parties, should contact the school in advance for information and approval.
